Belen Friends donated $6,200 earned
to help fund the
library renovations. The check was presented at City
Hall.

Tour, October 1, 2007
After the regular
Library Board meeting, Library Director Beverly McFarland gave
board members a tour of the new library.
Farmer's Market
A dedicated group
of Friends volunteers had a busy summer at the Belen Farmers
Market. Over four Fridays throughout the summer, the group
earned over $120 for the library’s children programs and, most
importantly, educated the public about the library, its
services, and its renovation and construction.

Farmer's Market
The FOTL
participated in the Belen Farmers Market on July 21, August 11,
and September 1. Two tables were set up with books, snacks, and
cold drinks. The Friends were successful in spreading the word
about the library and raising money.

Summer
Reading Program
The summer reading
program is supported in part by the Friends of the Library. This
year the program again succeeded in drawing young people into
the library and motivating them to read. Prizes at the end of
the program included bicycles provided by the Belen Masonic
Lodge No. 56.
