GRAND OPENING

Your newly renovated and expanded library was the center of attention on Tuesday, February 26, when a ribbon cutting and open house was staged to show it off to the community. The 10 am ribbon cutting was followed by the 2-hour open house, which included refreshments, tours of the library, a mariachi band, an ongoing slide show documenting library construction, and The Cat in the Hat. Many elected officials, the state librarian, library board members, and scores of citizens attended the lively event, hosted by library staff and the Friends. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Friends of the Belen Library have a very busy year planned. Just look!  Please mark your calendars for key events such as the annual meeting in March and the spring book sale in April.

The Friends of the Library Board would love to have more members of the Friends involved in these activities. Volunteering doesn’t have to be a lifelong commitment; an hour of your time is all that's needed to make a difference! And it’s fun to meet other Friends members, get to know the library staff, and share your love for reading! Also needed are volunteers to help make phone calls and provide goodies when refreshments are required. The library’s Board of Directors and the library staff are amazed at and grateful for what the Belen Friends group has accomplished, and it’s volunteers like you that make it happen! Can you give an hour? If so, call Pat Boyle, Friends President, at 861-7067.
